1. Activities to support the drafting of nomination documents
Shizuoka and Yamanashi Prefectures draft the formal nomination documents to be submitted by Japan's national Agency for Cultural Affairs to the UNESCO World Heritage Centre. We are cooperating in these efforts by providing four members to the joint biprefectural-academic committee working for Mt. Fuji's World Heritage inscription: Atsuko Toyama, who chairs the committee; Shuji Takashina, who serves as vice-chair; Jun Kubota; and Yuko Tanaka.
2. PR and educational activities
We carry out public relations, educational, and other activities to share the cultural value of Mt. Fuji with as many people as possible, seeking to gain their understanding and support for the mountain's inscription as a World Heritage site. Our representatives attend the UNESCO World Heritage Committee meetings held in a different country each year as observers. We broadcast information on the campaign to register Mt. Fuji as a World Heritage site by organizing and otherwise supporting various events and producing websites and printed materials.
3. Fund-raising activities
We invite organizations to become official members (supporting partners) of our NPO. We also operate the Mt. Fuji Fund in order to raise money for promoting ongoing activities to preserve the mountain.
